Strategy to Connect UnWired Customers Announced
Chicago, May 12,
2008: Over 150 million Americans do not have
continual access to broadband capability, even though this service
has become a tremendously important aspect of communications and
commerce in our society today. FSH Communications hopes to
mitigate this problem in its service territories by refocusing the
Company on the challenge of connecting "UnWired" market
segments. Mike Tatom, Executive VP and Chief Operating Officer
for the Company stated, "FSH is committed to creating and utilizing
technology that moves the country forward." He went on
to say, "The United States has plunged to 15th place in comparison
to broadband penetration of other countries - we started in fourth
place when the statistics were first collected." FSH
realizes that this effort will require investment, as well as a
tremendous amount of support form policy makers and other corporate
organizations.
The effort will focus
on two areas. First, FSH intends to find profitable ways to
provide IP-based voice services in conjunction with Internet access
for people that are disconnected as a result of travel or just being
away from the office or home. Second, the Company will create
new services that allow customers to realize the benefit of broadband.
These services will be offered in conjunction with broadband access
plans. This initiative anticipates that if individuals and
businesses experience economically justifiable benefit from a service,
they will buy it.
The first of such services
is a movie download service that enables a customer to simply connect
to a download station and select a movie that can be stored on a
portable player or laptop. The Company plans to offer a host
of these new services within the next twelve months in conjunction
with its media partner, Lightspeed Cinema, and it network partner,
Amber Networks.
Amber Networks, of Milpitas,
California is a key strategic partner of FSH and is currently driving
wireless applications and services including voice and data by leveraging
the FSH infrastructure. Rob Reagan, President of Amber Networks,
stated, "FSH is a key partner for Amber Networks in the delivery
of wireless and sensor applications within busy public areas using
our unique networks and service offerings. We are a perfect
match, and the public is the beneficiary where we can leverage publicly
accessible connectivity."
Headquartered in Chicago,
IL, FSH Communications is a premier provider of communications,
content and media services for mobile market segments.
